In this case, your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch speaker doesn't work right.

The person's voice might not be clear or you might hear crackling, or the sound might be bad. Find out what to do to my fix speaker.

Make Sure That Your Sound Settings Are Correct Before You Go to Bed.

If your device has a Ring/Silent switch, move the switch forward so that orange doesn't show. Swipe down from the top-right corner of your iPad to see Control Center and make sure Silent Mode isn't on.

Open Settings > Focus > Do Not Disturb and make sure that Do Not Disturb is turned off, then close the settings.

Clean the receivers and speakers in your home. This will make them work better. When you're done with your device, remove any screen protectors or films. To see if the speaker hole is blocked or dirty, look at it.

On the iPhone, make sure that the receiver isn't blocked or dirty, but not dirty. If you need to, use a small, soft-bristled brush to clean the opening of the speaker or the receiver. Keep the brush clean and dry.

It Might Be Time to Check the Sound on Your Device.

In Settings, go to Sounds (or Settings > Sounds & Haptics). Then, move the sliders for Ringer and Alerts back and forth a few times to change how loud they are. The speaker might need to be fixed if you don't hear any sound or if the speaker button on the Ringer and Alerts slider isn't working. You can call Apple Support for help with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

Try Calling.

The best thing to do if you hear noise is to make a call with your iPhone and turn on the speakerphone. On an iPad or iPod touch, use FaceTime to talk to someone else, like a friend. In this case, if you still can't hear, or you can't hear anything at all, then your network or reception might be the problem. Try to call back later, or from a different place, and see if that works.

FaceTime is not available in every country or region.
